Five police constables were killed after a police mobile came under attack in the Gurguri area of Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A search operation is under way as authorities investigate the nature of the attack.

At least five police constables were killed on Tuesday after a police mobile came under attack in the Gurguri area of Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said.
District police spokesman Shaukat Khan confirmed the incident, stating that all the victims were constables. The martyred personnel were identified as Shahid Iqbal, Samiullah, Arif, Safdar, and Muhammad Abrar, who was also driving the police vehicle at the time of the attack.
Khan said a large contingent of police, including the district police officer, reached the scene soon after the incident and launched a search operation in the area.
While the exact nature of the attack has not yet been officially confirmed, an image shared by the police showed what appeared to be the burnt remains of the police mobile, indicating severe damage.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives. In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, he offered prayers for the martyred officers and extended condolences to their families.
The prime minister paid tribute to the police force, saying officers have remained on the front lines in the fight against terrorism and rendered unparalleled sacrifices to maintain peace and security in the country.
“The entire nation salutes the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty,” he said, reiterating the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.
The attack is part of a recent surge in violence targeting law enforcement personnel in the province. Last week, a police official and his brother were killed in a gun attack in Lakki Marwat. Earlier this month, a suicide blast targeting a police mobile in the same district left one officer dead and five others injured. In November, three police personnel were martyred during a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Hangu.
