China’s President Xi Jinping urged South Korea to jointly uphold the WWII victory legacy and safeguard Northeast Asia’s stability during talks in Beijing, as both sides pledged deeper cooperation, dialogue to manage differences, and opposition to protectionism.

Chinese President Xi Jinping called on China and South Korea to safeguard the legacy of World War II and strengthen peace and stability in Northeast Asia during talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Beijing. The leaders highlighted shared history, economic interdependence and cooperation in emerging sectors, while pledging to manage differences through dialogue, oppose protectionism and deepen people-to-people exchanges. Fifteen cooperation agreements were signed following the meeting.
